Button Snake

felt button snake

I made this Button Snake for B to practice his buttoning skills. I put all of the pieces into a ziplock bag and it is easy for us to grab to use in the car or while we wait somewhere.

All you need to make your own is scrap felt, a long piece of ribbon, a button, and a needle and thread. Cut slits in the middle of the felt squares that match the size of your button. Thread your ribbon through one square and sew it directly onto the bottom of the ribbon. This piece will never come off and it keeps all of the other squares on too. Sew a large button onto the top of the ribbon.

This is what it looks like when your child is finished putting all of the pieces on. B needed help putting the pieces on for a long time and still needs help getting them off sometimes. This is so simple to make and has provided so many hours of fun!

Your blog showed up in my google reader as a “recommended source”, and I’ve bookmarked so many fun activities to do with my three-year-old. I’m now a subscriber, so keep up the great work!

I need to make this ASAP. I am going on a plane trip with my toddler and I’m trying to come up with quiet toys that will keep him busy for hours!

I am a daycare mum so will put this on my list of things to make for the kiddos good for a “wet season inside activity”
