Our family is taking three pretty big trips this summer and I’ve been prepping for the past month! We have a one year old, three year old, and six year old to keep entertained. Here are some fresh takes on favorite ways to make Summer travel with kids smooth and successful!
Organize with Soap Containers
It can be hard to organize travel with kids. The Dollar Tree sells these two pack soap containers and I use them for EVERYTHING! They are great for holding flashcards, playing cards, game pieces… So many uses. But for this summer, each kiddo gets their own and they’ll hold crayons! Perfect size, they stay contained, and there are no boxes that get wet or crushed.
Travel with kids can still be creative and fun! Did you know Ikea sells finger puppets for dirt cheap?! I keep these guys in a zippered pouch and they’ll be fun (and mess free!) to pull out on the plane.
Age Specific Activities in Pouches
Travel with kids can still allow for a variety of activities for different ages. Speaking of zippered pouches (by the way, Wal-Mart has great ones for $1 a piece), each kiddo also gets a special fun-packed pouch with age appropriate activities. Crayons, counting bears, rainbow looms, race cars… If it fits, it packs! These keep little minds VERY busy on long car trips.
Unwrap a Surprise Each Hour of the Trip
Travel with Kids and keep it exciting! Like I said, I’ve been planning for a few weeks now. Every time I’m out, I scour clearance racks. Even the Target dollar spot will deeply discount things, at which point I stock up! I toss all my finds in a high drawer in my dresser. This summer, I’ll wrap a few for each child and they will be able to open one present on each hour of our trip. It’s a fun tradition and the kids love spending the time between surprises playing with their new items!
