Baby Activity – Cooked Spaghetti Noodles

Baby Activity Cooked Spaghetti Noodles

Approx. Age: 5-9 months

During this time, your baby’s hand control is increasing and he/she likes to pass objects from hand to hand. Let your baby experience different tactile sensations (furry, rough, slimy, smooth, etc.) by holding and feeling different items around your home.

Give cooked spaghetti noodles a try! My friend told me about this activity and I can’t wait to give it a try. I think it will be so neat to see the different ways baby plays with it depending on age. Will he/she prefer 1 noodle or a whole handful? Will the texture be interesting to him/her or gross? Are they more fun warm or cold?

Repetition is key for all activities at all ages. It may take your child a few tries before he/she is giggling with delight or is even willing to give it a try. So don’t give up and don’t leave your child unattended with the noodles. I can’t wait to hear about your experiences with this!

I would try both! They both are a unique texture for baby to experiment with! =)

Do you put butter or oil on so they don't stick?

I think my son would stuff it all in his mouth at once if I did this for him right now, but maybe in a few months!!!

I let my 4 year old daughter play with some left over spaghetti once, she loved it.

I do feel on the fence though about letting kids play with food and seeing it go to waste.

We gave spaghetti to my little one in her bumbo and she was a little puzzled with the new texture. It was fun to watch her try to figure it out and it made for some cute and funny photos. Thanks for the baby ideas, I'll be checking in often!
