Both kids love helping in the kitchen and I love the time we spend together doing it.
I found a recipe for “On the Go Bars” in Country Crocks Recipe collection and decided to give it a try and I turned it into a free, printable recipe for beginning readers.
On the Go Bars
1/3 cup of Country Crock Spread
1 (10 oz.) bag of marshmallows
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
6 cups of O-shaped cereal
1 bag (7 oz.) dried mixed fruit (we used raisins)
Melt the Country Crock Spread, marshmallows, and cinnamon over medium heat until marshmallows are melted, stirring occasionally. Stir in cereal and fruit. Spread evenly in a greased 13×9 pan and let cool for 30 minutes.
I let the kids measure and put everything into the sauce pan and then I took care of melting it on the stove. While I did that, they measured and poured the cereal and raisins.
Here is the printable beginning reader version of the On the Go Bars Recipe.
