Homemade Play Dough and Beyond

My kiddos (2 and 6) LOVE to concoct homemade play dough.  I have such an easy, AWESOME recipe and I bet you have everything in your pantry already!

Combine 1 cup flour, 1 cup warm water, 2t cream of tarter, 1t oil, and 1/4 cup of salt in a saucepan.  Heat over medium heat, stirring and stirring until it forms a ball (takes only minutes).

Remove and let cool.

Then, I wrap my kids’ hands in plastic wrap and they select colors.  We find that the food color GELS make beautifully vibrant colors!

Once their hands are wrapped, they mix and knead and smoosh until they’ve achieved their desired color. If it is too many steps, you can also make playdough out of shaving cream

I always put out a plate of fun do dads to decorate!

Some fun ideas include garden pebbles, pompoms, googly eyes, pipe cleaners, or jewels. You can also be inspired by these best play doh tools that you have around the house.

My oldest likes to make monsters.

My youngest does too, and I especially watching them both hone their fine motor skills as they kneed, push, and pull!
