Want a simple way to use some of those fabulous Do a Dot printables floating around on the internet without busting out the paints? While painting them with dot markers is a lot of fun, I wanted something my toddler could do more independently without the risk of having fabulous new dot artwork all over my kitchen while I cooked dinner!
So I printed off a do a dot printable (this one is from Shannon’s Tot School, but there’s a huge variety out there) and colored in the dots with markers. You could use the dot painters as well – who says toddlers get all the fun!? I filled in the dots in a pattern using colors I knew we had in manipulatives.
Then I slipped the printable in a page protector for safe keeping, grabbed a cup full of manipulatives, and let my little one have at matching and lining up the pieces on the coordinating dots.
We used our counting bears, but you could also use pom balls, magnets, colored bingo chips, or for an extra special treat you could use M&Ms!
This is a great way to practice matching, fine motor skills, and even introduce patterns to your little one.
