supplies

Materials:

  • popsicle sticks
  • glue (hot glue and/or craft glue)
  • tissue paper
  • scissors
  • battery operated candle (tea light size)

Step 1

Glue 4 popsicle sticks together into a square. Notice how the sticks on the top and bottom are both glued on the top.

Make 3 more squares (total of 4) just like this. Let the glue dry.

Cut out 4 squares of white paper (we used printer paper) that are the exact size as your wooden squares.

Cut the tissue paper into different pieces, any shape that you want. Glue the tissue paper pieces onto the white paper, in any way you want.

Glue a decorated white paper to the back of each wooden square.

Cut 4 strips of paper that are the same height of the wooden squares. These will be for the corners.

Each strip should be about the width of your finger.

Fold each strip in half.

Put glue on both sides of the folded strip of paper.

Then, join two popsicle stick frames together using the paper strip. The strip will connect each of the squares on the back.

Continue until all 4 squares are connected.

Place a battery operated candle inside your luminary.
