Count and Clip Cards (free printable)

Count and Clip Cards (free printable)

Count and clip cards are a great way for little learners to practice counting with one-to-one correspondence and number recognition. I love that they are a low prep independent activity. It’s an easy way to make learning fun. Use them in Math centers, a tot tray, or as a busy bag.

DIY Count and Clip Cards

We’ve made our own counting cards with a dot marker and index cards. They were easy to make. I tried to arrange the dots like they appear on dice. This helps to build number sense.

You can also use extra stickers that you have on hand to make your own. I like getting inexpensive stickers from the dollar store. Or find stickers that include your child’s favorite characters from a show, movie, or book. Use index cards or cut card stock into fourths.

Ocean Themed Count and Clip Cards

Ocean Count and Clip Cards

Count the under the sea creatures and clip the matching number. This set of cards would go great with a fish unit or preschool ocean games

Directions

  1. Print the counting cards onto card stock.
  2. Cut the set of cards apart into individual cards.
  3. Count the number of objects on the card. The first time a child uses the counting cards, model how to point to each one as you count and then find and clip the number.
  4. Clip the clothes pin onto the correct number.
  5. If you don’t have clothes pins on hand, the correct answer can be covered with a button or block. This is a great activity for young children to have extra practice with preschool Math skills with very little prep.

Self Checking Count and Clip Cards

You can make the cards self-checking. The easiest way to do this is to put a small sticker or small dot on the back of the card where the corresponding number is.
