December is such a fun month and I try to involve my kiddos in every step of it. Here are some hands-on Christmas activities that make December so fun and memorable (for all of us!).
A Book a Night
Now, being in the classroom for six years left me with QUITE the collection of holiday books. But, you can also find GREAT deals the weeks after Christmas or check out books from the library. I wrap up 25 books and M and G take turns opening one each night for Daddy to read.
I take the easy road on this one, buying the pre-assembled house and letting them focus on the decorating!
December is also when the weather gets cold (well, as cold as it gets here in California!) so I hot glued some popsicle sticks together. Then, I ran a bead of white glue on the surface and let M decorate with sequins and buttons. When done, we tied a ribbon on it and hung them from our windows (she made LOTS!).
These make GREAT gifts! Buy a pack of glass or plastic ball ornaments and let your tot select acrylic paint colors to squeeze inside. Then, let him swirls and twirl the ball around, watching the paint spread and make designs! Dry upright and then wrap them as presents!
I drew a tree inside a shallow cardboard box and let M dip a cleaning brush into some washable paint. She loved making “snow” on the tree!
Gingerbread Muffin Tin
I set up two muffin trays for G and M, each section filled with either frosting or toppings. They got to spread the frosting and then decorate!
