Tips for Moms of Kindergartners

School is approaching and Moms are all in the same boat. Here are several tips for Moms of Kindergartners.
Tips for Moms of Kindergartners
This is B on his last day of Kindergarten.
Look at him! Happy, comfortable, and cool.
Such a different kid from the little boy I brought to school on the first day who was a little nervous, shy, and cautious.
Where is his beginning of the year picture? There isn’t one.
I was such a nervous mess about him starting school that I forgot to take one.

Can you believe that?!

If you have a child about to start Kindergarten, you might be able to relate to some of my worries (or laugh at the fact that there were so many). Will he make friends? What if he gets lost? Will he have fun? Will he like school? How can I create a relaxing morning routine so my last words out the door aren’t “Hurry! Come on!”.
“It’s going to be fine. He will do great.” everyone kept saying. At the time I either didn’t believe them or I was too nervous to accept the reassurance, but you know what? They were right! It was fine and he did great. I made it through the first year so now I feel like I know what I’m doing (well kind of) and I can offer a few tips to other Kinder moms.

Tips for Moms of Kindergartners:

  • Take a picture of your child the first and last day of school. Don’t forget the first day like I did.
  • Send things in their lunch that they can open by themselves (if possible).
  • Have a back up lunch box and/or backpack. (It may get lost or left behind. Both happened to us more than once.)
  • Find an after school routine that works for your family. Where will the backpack, folders, homework, lunch box, etc. go when we walk in the door? It keeps everything organized, keeps the mess to a minimum, and saves you time in the morning.
  • Label your child’s things (clothes, coats, boots, backpacks, lunch boxes, school supplies etc.) with their name. I can’t even begin to tell you the amount of mix-ups there were! Bright Star Kids durable and affordable, stick-on or iron-on labels are the perfect solution.

Put a label on it! Kick off the school year right and prevent unnecessary mishaps. Reply below for $5 off your Bright Star Kids order.

Yes! I can totally relate. It really will be ok and the kindergarten teachers have moms like us every year so I feel like they are extra communicative and understanding.
