As we all know, the Christmas tree is SO tempting for little ones! The thought of keeping your tree “safe” is exhausting. So here is my solution…..
Kid Friendly OrnamentsĀ
Last year at Christmas time B was 21 months and really into Sesame Street so I decided to make him his own “special” ornaments. I googled Sesame Street images, copy and pasted them into Word. I printed them out, cut them into circles, hole punched them, and hung them with ribbon. I left the lower branches of the tree empty and let him move his special ornaments around as much as he wanted. He took them off, put them in buckets, put them on his bike handles, back onto the tree, etc. It provided hours of Christmas fun for him and I didn’t have to stress about anything breaking or keeping him away from the tree.
B is 33 months right now and really into a few of the shows on Nick Jr. (Diego, Dora, Wonder Pets, Max and Ruby, etc.) I found these Nick Jr.’s Printable Ornaments on their website. It has ornaments for all of B’s favorites and it saved me a lot of time. B had a great time putting them on the tree. He hasn’t played with them as much as he did last year but I know he enjoys having his own special ornaments on the tree.

I wanted to do that with our Christmas tree, leave the bottom part for my 2 year old to hang his decorations/ornaments. I thought it would help him to not want to touch all the rest if he had his own section. Hubby said no, of course, because it wouldn’t look right. Maybe I will just do it anyway since your son seems to enjoy it so much!!!

Such a great idea, and it lets him feel like he’s a “part” of everything! I would love to do this for M… just have to talk my husband into it too. He doesn’t care that it wouldn’t look right, he just doesn’t think the tree should be touched at all. What 3 year old can have a TREE in the house and not want to TOUCH it??! šŸ˜‰
