Pocket Chart Activities

Pocket charts can be used for a variety of learning activities for all ages. Recently, I’ve been using them for learning and enrichment for LM (age 2.5)

Story Telling

I printed out and laminated these Brown Bear, Brown Bear characters from DLTK.  Little man loves to re-tell the story over and over again.  He likes putting the characters in and out of the pocket chart.
Find the Shape

These awesome Dr. Suess cards are also from the dollar section in Target.  They come with these five shapes in different colors.  I chose to display these on one of my pockets charts.  LM likes to have a shape hunt and find the different shapes or colors. Great visual to have around to reinforce basic shapes.

Patterns

Your child can continue a pattern that you start or for beginners- they can copy the pattern below the pattern displayed.

Alphabet Recognition

I adore Jan Brett, so I just had to print out these letter cards when I discovered them.  A pocket chart is a great way to display these little cards.  Play a letter game.. which letter on the chart is missing or which letter comes next?  Mix up the cards and have your child put them in the chart in order.
