No matter how old your kids are or what their love language is, hearing the reasons why you love them or what you love about them is priceless! That’s why this Countdown to Valentine’s Day with Compliments is one of our favorite traditions!
For many years we have had the tradition of counting down to Valentine’s Day with compliments. Both of my kids love it.
Each night in February, I tape a heart to each of their doors that has something unique that I love about them. I like to stretch it out over the two weeks instead of taping them all on Valentine’s Day, but you can do that too.
I created this printable for you with the dates included (my daughter likes to make a book with them and keep it). You can also use heart doilies like we’ve done in the past or even cut out your own heart shapes. Whatever works best for you is the way to go.
I start writing the compliments the week before Valentine’s Day. I really want to make sure I take the time to write meaningful messages. Sometimes our evenings are rushed and I know I would put less thought into it if I waited.
Here are a few that I’ve written in the past to inspire you to get started:
- I love seeing how patient you are with younger children.
- I love how funny you are and the jokes you tell.
- You are a kind friend. I love that about you.
- I love watching you play volleyball and seeing how hard you work.
- You are generous with your time when you help out your Grandma.
