Alphabet Mystery

Alphabet Mystery

We’ve been reading the book Alphabet Mystery by Audrey Wood. It is about a family of lowercase letters that are trying to solve the mystery about where little x has gone.

The letters in the story use a flying pencil to get from place to place and they all line up on the pencil in alphabetical order. I printed a few pencils from my clipart and gave B these mini alphabet stamps (Target dollar spot) to recreate that part of the story. What you see on this paper is as far as we got. B stamped a little and then lost interest.

Overall, this book is great for introducing or reinforcing lower case letters and illustrating that letters make words.

I got the Kool Whip idea from Totally TotsMonday Nov. 8,2010 Terrific Tot sites~ Diapers to Diplomas. I always like to give credit due to where I found something useful to use with my grandson, Ben age 4.

somewhere I got the idea of using Kool Whip and having a child use blocks of shapes to put an inprint on top of a table. Why couldn't the same thing be done with Kool Whip? They have plastic alphabets, numbers and you can just use them to do the same thing as the blocks.. I'll have to go into my girls blogs I follow and see where I read that.. I'll be back.. have a great day..from Iowa sunny and 45 degrees.
