Mondrian Inspired Bead Craft

Mondrian Inspired Bead Craft

Art by Piet Mondrian is inspirational for both children and adults. Primary colors, abstract shapes, and straight lines are all a part of this Mondrian Inspired Bead Craft.

Supplies:

  • 8 x 10 inch flat canvas or thick cardboard
  • white glue (dries clear)
  • pony beads (red, black, yellow, blue)
  • Download and Print the Mondrian Inspired Pattern

Print and cut out the Mondrian inspired bead craft pattern (HERE).  You could also draw the black lines with a ruler directly onto the canvas or cardboard.

Glue the pattern onto your canvas or thick cardboard. We cut our pattern a little bit shorter than the 8″ x 10″ canvas.

Glue black beads onto the black lines of the pattern.

Fill in the sections with different colored beads. We used a paint brush to spread out a thick layer of glue in each section that we wanted to fill. This made it faster and easier to place the beads.

Typically Mondrian used primary colors, but this is your art so you can use whatever color beads you want or have on hand.

Leave a few sections white to give a nice contrast or fill them all in. It is your art and this tutorial is just a suggestion so be inspired and create.
